LINDEN

Music City Texas

Music roots run deep in Linden. The County Seat of Cass County, the town received Texas Main Street City designation in 2017 celebrated by a visit from the First Lady of Texas, Cecilia Abbot.

Linden draws visitors from around the world each year as the hometown of Eagles founding member and legendary artist Don Henley. Henley's 2015 solo album Cass County is a self proclaimed nod to his "native turf in Texas: The family, friends, neighbors, and the countryside" that shaped his childhood. As birthplace to Father of the Blues, T. Bone Walker and Father of Ragtime, Scott Joplin, the rich musical history and its influence is undeniable. Music City Texas Theater is a nonprofit organization with a stage welcoming musical acts of all genres. Acts such as Henley, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther, The Bellamy Brothers, Hal Ketchum, Travis Tritt, Merle Haggard, George Jones, and many others have raved about the intimate acoustic excellence of the Theater.

The atmosphere is a must-experience in Cass County.

The Pleasant Hill Quilters are an important part of Linden's heritage. Check out the video below from Texas Highways to find out more about this incredible secret Underground Railroad escape effort using quilts.

The Linden-Kildare Consolidated School District boasts Tiger pride in each academically acclaimed program. When the prize winning high school band strikes up and Tiger blue fills the stands, cheerleaders of all ages and backgrounds experience the feeling of community charisma unsurpassed.
